The construction of shopping malls in Nigeria and the country’s retail potential is a hot topic, as highlighted by discussions at last month’s Africa Property Investment Summit in Johannesburg.
South African food retailer Shoprite Holdings, which has partnered with different property development companies to take the anchor position in a number of these planned malls, is emphasising the demand for mall expansion across the West African country.

Not only is she one of the richest people in the world, she’s also regarded as the richest black woman. Now has to move over, as Folorunsho Alakija is now the richest black woman in the world.

Although Oprah may no longer be the richest black woman in the world, she’s still one of the wealthiest overall. Her net worth will continue to grow with the many companies she owns, including her own television network.

Who controls Nigeria’s oil wealth?

Amidst the controversy over the north-south shifting balance in the control of Nigeria’s oil resources, a clearer picture is emerging from the shadowy oil world of the major players, as well as the source and extent of their amazing oil wealth.
Senator Ita Enang fired the first salvo in Abuja last week, when he stated that northern interests control as much as 83% of Nigeria’s oil blocks and then sparked a wild debate over the huge inequitable distribution of wealth in country.
According to information available, the first comprehensive push to grant oil exploration and production (E&P) licences to solely Nigerian citizens began in 1990 under the Ibrahim Babangida

The Power of Prayer for Business

Some integrate prayer in their work life and others avoid it. Here is a practical approach to harnessing the power of prayer regardless of your religious beliefs.

In Vietnam, i have read and have been impressed by the consistency of prayer and ritual in every shop or office. In any establishment, you will typically find a small altar with burning incense and offerings to Buddha and/or Cai Shen. It made me aware of my own use of prayer relating to my business, and my observation of others who do the same in Western culture.
I have certainly witnessed on many occasions the following prayers by people I know:
Praying to close that big deal.
Praying to make payroll at the end of the month.
Praying that your expensive new marketing campaign will work.
Praying your employees will get it right this time.
Praying your client won't see the big mistake you made.
Praying that something not so good happens to your competitors.

Obama releases statement following Zimmerman not guilty verdict

The US president said:
“The death of Trayvon Martin was a tragedy. Not just for his family, or for any one community, but for America. I know this case has elicited strong passions. And in the wake of the verdict, I know those passions may be running even higher. But we are a nation of laws, and a jury has spoken. I now ask every American to respect the call for calm reflection from two parents who lost their young son.

Some of the popular foreign domain names are .com, .org, .net, and .co.uk, among others. Nigeria’s own unique identifier on the Internet is .ng.

US athlete Tyson Gay tests positive for banned substances

Tyson Gay has tested positive for a banned substance and has said he'll pull out of next month's world championships in Moscow.

Gay told the Associated Press he was notified by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency of the positive test late last week. He wouldn't reveal the substance but said the positive test came from a May 16 out-of-competition test, the AP reported.

"I don't have a sabotage story. I don't have any lies. I don't have anything to say to make this seem like it was a mistake or it was on USADA's hands, someone playing games," said Gay, who fought back sobs as he spoke to the AP. "I don't have any of those stories. I basically put my trust in someone and I was let down."

He did not disclose to whom he was referring when he said he was let down.

Creepy French Scientist Is Adamant That Women Should Not Wear Bras

Across the course of history, French discoveries have proved invaluable to the field of science. Children still learn the stories of Louis Pasteur, who discovered that invisibly small bacteria spoil food and cause disease, and Marie Curie, who found and named the unseen power of radioactivity. Now there's one more name to add to the list of geniuses upending the world's assumptions : Professor Jean-Denis Rouillon, who has declared that bras make women's boobs saggy.
Rouillon, who teaches at the Franche-Comté University in Besançon, was recently interviewed by France Info about the results of an in-depth 15-year titty study. Through observations running back to 1997, he claims to have discovered that women who wear bras, a garment intended to defy gravity, actually have saggier boobs than women who don't.

30 Things to Stop Doing to Yourself

When you stop chasing the wrong things you give
the right things a chance to catch you.
As Maria Robinson once said, “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”  Nothing could be closer to the truth.  But before you can begin this process of transformation you have to stop doing the things that have been holding you back.
Here are some ideas to get you started:
  1. Stop spending time with the wrong people. – Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you.  If someone wants you in their life, they’ll make room for you.  You shouldn’t have to fight for a spot.  Never, ever insist yourself to someone who continuously overlooks your worth.  And remember, it’s not the people that stand by your side when you’re at your best, but the ones who stand beside you when you’re at your worst that are your true friends.

Top ten richest athletes revealed!

Tiger Woods is once again the world's best-paid athlete after reclaiming golf's number one ranking, according to Forbes.
Woods had total earnings of $78 million (£50.34m) over the past year - $65 million (£42m) in endorsements and the remainder from appearance and prize money, Forbes said in its annual sporting survey.
The American returned to the top of golf's rankings in March for the first time since October 2010.
A number of sponsors had abandoned Woods after he was involved in an adultery scandal that broke in 2009 but sportswear company Nike was among those that stood by him.
Woods had topped the Forbes list every year from 2001 until boxer Floyd Mayweather deposed him last year.
Swiss tennis player Roger Federer was second in the new list, making more than $71 million (£45.89m) since June 2012.

INSPIRATION: Timing is Key!!

This is a post i shared this morning as a note on my facebook page.... http://www.facebook.com/notes/oluwaseyi-oshea-ilubanwo/timing-is-key/10151497709801448
Its exactly 3years,1month and 8days since I wrote a note on this platform (April 20, 2010). As i was preparing for work this morning, I tuned to a radio station (inspirational fm 92.3) which has birth and inspired this note. My wish and prayer is that it will touch and inspire you...
TIMING IS KEY!
Let me start with this illustration; A man with one wrist watch will always be sure of what the TIME says but another man with Two wrist watches might not be able to say for sure what TIME it is. TIMING is everything in life, for everything there is a right TIME; for it to happen or for it to be executed. People often say " I don't have TIME" its a big lie.... Its because the person have failed to plan and misplaced his/her priorities. The Holy book says " There is TIME for everything under the earth " but if You believe that you don't have enough TIME, you tend to procrastinate which makes you to have lesser TIME to achieve your set goals.
You cannot afford to wait for perfect conditions. Goal setting Is often a matter of balancing TIMING against available resources. Opportunities are easily lost while waiting for perfect conditions... So Friend, you'll see that when ever you plan and set a goal, you always meet your target.
I learned that we can do anything, but we can't do everything... at least not at the same TIME. So think of your priorities not in terms of what activities you do, but when you do them. TIMING is everything.....
Don't forget to share with your friends. Good morning...

Riot at Anambra State University after two students are shot dead by robbers

There was riot in Igbariam campus in Anambra State University this morning. Heard things have died down a bit. According to unconfirmed reports which I am getting from students of the school, who are also sending in photos, armed robbers invaded the students' lodge last night to rob and they ended up shooting quite a few students. One student died last night, while another one who was shot died early this morning in the hospital.

Some students decided the best way to respond to the incident was to riot against the school and state government, blaming lack of security for their fellow students' deaths.

Students say they pay N135,000 per session for new students and 107,000 for old students and still don't have security or even a functioning hospital, plus no light!

The rioting students went on the streets insisting on speaking with Governor Peter Obi. The students calmed down after the school Vice Chancellor addressed them about an hour ago.

9 Slightly Crazy Things That Might Make You Wildly Productive

Break up your routine with these secret (slightly off-the-wall) tricks to jump-starting your productivity.
Sound of Music, Julie Andrews
Think of a few of your favorite things.

The other day during a grueling seven-hour car ride, I found myself feeling the stress of fatigue, impatience, and boredom. Suddenly, my dog, Riley, yawned with an outrageously funny expression of his own boredom. The sound was remarkably human and not one I'd heard before; it made me laugh so hard that it brought tears to my eyes.
Instantly, I had more energy. I felt more optimistic about the day ahead and, with the stress removed, I suddenly remembered that I had brought along an audio book that would surely cure my boredom. I was also reminded of some research I'd read.

6 Ways to Make Your Story Go Viral

How do you get people talking about your product or idea? It's less unpredictable than it seems.
Viral Wave

People always ask me how to make messages "go viral."
Every business needs to get the word out, every leader wants her ideas to spread more.
So I talked with Jonah Berger, the leading word-of-mouth scientist, to get answers. Berger, a Wharton professor and author of Contagious, gave me a six-step method to drive people to spread the word.
Here's what he told me:
